IML- In Mold Labelling

The injection molding process is based on the injection of material into a mold. The technique is generally used by thermoplastic and thermoset polymers. During the injection molding process, a certain amount of heated liquid material is injected into a mold under high pressure. The material cools and solidifies in the shape of the mold. Injection molding is used for all types of containers, such as plastic packaging, lids, medical devices, among others.

IML for injection molding implies that the decoration of the product takes place in the mold. An IML label is inserted into the mold, during the injection process, the molten polymer that is injected, fuses with the label that is inside the mold and the final result is a decorated lid, produced in one go.
